Arduino: open hardware done right

Prior to arduino, hardware was a mostly closed shop with proprietary tool chains, expensive development boards and long lead times for development. By creating the arduino, Massimo Banzi democratised access to hardware, getting it in the hands of students, hackers and artists. In so doing, it opened the floodgates for new devices and importantly, enabled the experimentation needed to usher in the IoT epoch.
