Node JS - JavaScript has left the browser

With the open sourcing of the V8 engine from Chrome, the opportunity to start using JavaScript in more places was evident. Immediately this opened up options around building server and desktop applications but increasingly this has enabled cloud and edge functions and IoT devices to flourish. In turn, the ecosystem of packages has soared, creating security headaches and immense opportunities for rapid, sophisticated development.
